Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall. — Joshua 2:15

Over recent years, things such as escape rooms have become increasingly popular. If you are unfamiliar, people will go into a room as a group, are given a puzzle and set of clues, and have to solve the puzzle in the time allotted to “escape.” From big cities to small towns, these experiences are almost anywhere you want to look for them.

But there are times in life when you need an actual escape route. I remember back in my days working as a paramedic. We would often go into homes where violence had occurred. While the police may often be there, we were trained to never put ourselves into a situation where we did not have an escape route.

It can often be difficult to plan for whatever situations you may find yourself in. The spies knew they could hide in Rahab the harlot’s house. I doubt they had pre-planned an escape route that took them out of her window and down the city wall by a rope. But God knew what would happen and how to provide an escape route from the situation.

Throughout our lives, we often look for escape routes from situations and circumstances that we face. We will go to great extents to “escape” life’s difficulties. Instead, we should be looking for God’s escape route, no matter what it is that we face.

In every circumstance that comes into your life, God has a plan. He understands that you need relief from the burdens and pressures. Instead of trying to handle things on your own, give it completely over to God! You never know where he may provide a rope and window for you that you weren’t planning on!

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
