But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. — Romans 5:8

It was just a few years ago that I remember seeing the man that jumped in what was called the jump from space. A balloon carried the man over 20 miles into space and he set several world records in his jump as he parachuted back to earth. He gained a lot of recognition for his actions and was praised for his heroism.

There are also many who seek notoriety on social media in our day. They want to post a video of themselves online or have a “viral post” that will cause others to know who they are. Many people do find themselves in a viral post on social media, but in many instances, it never happens.

For everyone single one of those people who accomplish something that puts their name in a record book or gives them notoriety, there are dozens who will never see that level of fame in this world. They may feel that they are unimportant, unaccomplished, or at times, another word used to describe the feeling is worthless. Our society gives a pretty twisted sense of personal value.

Don’t be discouraged if you find yourself left out of that accomplished or popular group. Scripture teaches us that the things of this world are temporary. Even though you may feel that you have no value to anyone here in this life, there is a God who found value in you. In fact, He thought you were worth dying for!

He saw so much value in you that He sent His Son to die for you. Even though He knew we were all far from perfect, He still loved us enough to die for us and pay the ultimate price for our sins. Don’t be discouraged because you haven’t accomplished popularity in this world. God knows who you are and you are something very special to Him!
