Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. — Philippians 4:4
I absolutely love hearing or reading about a good success story. There’s just something about hearing how someone defied the odds or worked through adversity and accomplished a major goal. Sometimes it’s an athlete, or perhaps it’s a business person. Either way, there’s just something about those stories that’s always caught my attention.
What no one likes to hear about is someone that has been blessed with an accomplishment, but they let pride into their hearts. No one likes to be around someone that brags about all the great things they have, the amazing things they have done.
Here in Philippians, the verse says to rejoice in the Lord. The thought behind this is that we do not take pride in our achievements here in this world. After all, those achievements are only for a brief moment in time. The idea is that we take joy in what God has done for us. Not just once. Not just occasionally. No, we are to do it “alway” or continually all the time.
You can have the nicest things of this world, enjoy the most extravagant experiences that can be afforded, but nothing compares to knowing Jesus Christ as your Savior. That is something that is worth rejoicing over. Not just today, but everyday!
