Rough Day?
You made it this far. Let’s slow down for a moment.
“His mercies are new every morning.” — Lamentations 3:23
Some days do not go our way. There are times when everything seems to go wrong. Everything we touch seems to break. If it can go wrong, it will happen on these days. It takes away our comfort and our ability to rest.
A conversation goes sideways.
A plan falls apart.
An unexpected expense shows up.
The to-do list gets longer instead of shorter.
By the end of the day, we are not just tired, we are discouraged.
It is easy in those moments to start believing something deeper:
“Maybe I’m failing.”
“Maybe I’m not enough.”
“Maybe this is just how it’s going to be.”
But Scripture gently reminds us that God’s mercies are new every morning!
Notice when those words were written. They were not written during a season of comfort. They were spoken in the middle of grief and disappointment. And yet, even there, hope was not gone.
A hard day does not mean God has stepped away.
A frustrating moment does not mean you have failed beyond repair.
An imperfect day does not define your story.
God’s mercy does not run on your performance.
It does not reset based on your productivity.
It does not disappear because things fell apart.
It is new.
New for today.
New for tomorrow.
New for whatever comes next.
Maybe today didn’t go the way you hoped.
Maybe you wish you could redo parts of it.
But you don’t have to carry regret into tomorrow.
You can rest.
You can release the parts that didn’t work.
And you can trust that the same God who walked with you through today will meet you again in the morning with fresh mercy.
Take a breath.
This day is not the end of your story.
