And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. — Exodus 12:30
If you think about all the evils of this world, many of them happen at night. On many occasions in my life, I can recall bad things that happened in the middle of the night. For example, I will never forget the tears and cries of one mother as we stood on the roadside and she learned that an accident had just taken her teenage son’s life.
Many times, there has been a sickness that strikes someone in the middle of the night. Many times loved ones are taken away during the middle of the night. While these things may happen during the daytime, it seems when they happen at night, it only adds to the struggle.
We can certainly see the terror in the night of this verse. It says there was a great cry in Egypt, so much that it woke everyone up! That’s what these terrors will do. They can often wake you up, interrupting your sleep and altering your life in many different ways.
As Christians, we are not immune from dealing with life’s difficulties. But when we face these difficulties, we can trust that our God has a purpose and plan. He will not leave us to figure it out on our own. Instead, God already knows what we are dealing with and exactly what we will need to overcome.
Have you recently experienced some terror in the night in your life? Perhaps you have faced difficulties and challenges that you never imagined. Do not let anyone convince you that God is unaware. He knows exactly what you’re facing and what you need to make it through. Trust Him and He will not fail you!
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
