And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath. — Joshua 2:11
Not long ago, I was introduced to someone in a meeting, and their words surprised me. The person introduced me by name, and they immediately said, “It’s so great to meet you. I have heard so much about you.” I’m always surprised when I hear those words. Why would anyone want to talk about me?
Many times when someone says this to me, I often tell them that whatever they heard is most likely only half true. It is my way to deflect from the situation. I will never hide from who I am, but I do not want to be the center of attention.
It often amazes me how information will quickly get around about someone. You can do one thing for someone, and they will tell someone else. Soon, word has spread about how you did something. The things said about you can be good or bad. In the instance of this verse, the story was about how mighty and marvelous God was!
When Rahab refers to “these things,” She refers to all the mighty works of God for His people. The stories had spread throughout the land. Not because all these people witnessed it personally, but because those who experienced it were telling others about their God!
Do you tell others about your God? Do you share the stories of His goodness and how marvelous and wonderful He is to you? Think of how wonderful the experience would be if someone saw you approaching and the first words out of their mouth was, “I heard what God did for you!”
It is important that we tell others about our God. It is important that we share our experiences, tell of His goodness, and help them see the love that God has for them! Don’t just hide what God has done for you; tell everyone! Tell your friends, family, and even strangers on the street how good our God really is.
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
