The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. — Romans 13:12
Many of us begin each of our days in a similar way. We go through the same routine. Perhaps we eat the same breakfast. These are the things that we are familiar with, and we enjoy those routines that bring us comfort.
Long before we face the challenges of our day, we go through quiet moments of reflection and opportunity. In these quiet moments, we make pivotal decisions about the focus of our mind and heart. These decisions are extremely important because they will shape other things as we continue into the day.
Sometimes the darkness in life is very subtle, found in these quiet moments. These are moments when we choose worldly things over Godly things. While it may seem insignificant, it creates a pattern that we easily follow as the day continues.
If you aren’t careful, you will find yourself continually choosing darkness. Not because that’s your ultimate desire. But many times, because it is where you allowed your heart to be distracted and drawn to.
Today, focus on making the decision to put on the armor of light. The light allows God to guide us out of the darkness, showing us the areas in our lives where we need to change or improve. It is not saying we are perfect. It is committing to God that we are choosing His ways, not our own ways.
