Would you quit?

For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life. — 2 Corinthians 1:8

It wasn’t so long ago that I was scrolling through some videos online and came across the story of someone who had a challenging life. They were recounting some of their most recent days. A battle with cancer, the loss of a loved one, and the worry they might not live to see another day with their children.

As I listened to the story, I couldn’t help but think about how easy it might be to just give up. A lot of people would. They would face these challenges and in their mind, it would be tempting to just give up.

Several people in the Bible certainly had lives that way. They faced circumstances that if we were honest, many of them might be tempted to give up. Even in this verse, Paul writes about his troubles in life and that it pressed him so intense that he despaired for life.

But Paul said that God saved his life. God intervened and made life worth living. He made it worth continuing on for another day. It wasn’t Paul that made life worth living, but it was God!

Maybe you feel like giving up today, but don’t! Call out to God and seek His help in your circumstance. You cannot find the solution for life’s challenges in yourself. It isn’t worth giving up if God is on your side! Let Him guide you to keep going another day.
