The approach of prayer

Share with others

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. — Philippians 4:6

I have been blessed to have many friends throughout my life. There are some friends who I have been extremely close to. I can pretty much tell them anything. There are many others who I probably wouldn’t trust with much detail.

These relationships were not developed overnight. They came through years of communication, interaction, and growth of our relationship. Those who have known me the longest, know more about me and know more of the details of my life than others.

That’s certainly how our relationship with God should be in prayer. Our approach should be just as if we were talking with those we are closest with. No detail should be spared, we should share our hearts each and every time that we talk with Him.

As the verse says, be careful for nothing. Don’t let anything in this life get in the way of you sharing your heart with God. Spending time with God in prayer is one of the most important things that we can do!

How do you approach prayer? Do you hold things back, or do you tell Him everything that is on your heart. God cares about you and wants to be closer to you than anyone else. But that means you have to talk to Him and communicate with Him.
