Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. — Psalm 42:5
There are many days that I will listen to podcasts as I drive down the road. There are a variety of different podcasts that I will listen do. On this specific day, the podcast was about proper planning for the future.
The person on the podcast was jumping around from topic to topic. To properly plan for the future, you have to take care of your physical body. They shared their thought about proper planning financially. They even talked about proper property management and making sure to have long term debts paid off before approaching retirement.
As I listened to the podcast, I couldn’t help but think about all the things that people are hoping in. They are hoping in their savings, their health, and all the other things of this life. Their hope is in anything other than God.
The psalmist is clear in this verse, the hope for our soul is in God. It cannot be found in the things of this world. To hope in this world will result in nothing short of disappointment and discouragement.
As you reflect today, where is your hope? Are you putting your hope in the things that will leave you disappointed and discouraged? Instead, put your hope in God, who will never disappoint you. Instead, you will find all your needs supplied!
