Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD. — 1 Samuel 15:25
Not long ago, I had a meeting with someone that was approaching, and I had to prepare. It was not that the topic of the meeting was going to be challenging. The person who I was meeting with was going to be challenging.
Just before this time, the person became quite upset at me over some things. It was nothing that I had done against them. In fact, they became upset because they had misunderstood something that was shared with them. I knew that to be the case, but they were still upset.
I knew that this was going to be a challenge for us to meet until we got over the misunderstanding. As we went into the meeting, I addressed the misunderstanding. I shared with them what had happened and what was the real perspective. Immediately, they were relieved, and we were able to get through the meeting and make significant progress on our goal.
Just as misunderstandings can often get in the way of things in life, sin often gets in the way of our relationship with God. It can prevent us from having a closeness with Him that we all need in our lives. But it is not to say that we cannot get these things out of the way!
Samuel gave a great example here. He asked for forgiveness and asked that God would help him return to a place of worship once again. Is sin preventing you from being as close to God as you would like? Thankfully, God is a God of forgiveness. He will forgive you and cleanse you, placing you back in the right position to worship Him once again. All you have to do is ask! Don’t let sin stand in the way of your relationship with God. Ask Him for forgiveness today!
