Hope is found in believing

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. — Romans 15:13

I remember years ago as a child and the belief that I had in a man in a big red suit called Santa Claus. While my family did not go crazy with the idea of Santa, it was always exciting as a young child to wish for things and hope they would come true Christmas morning.

Now, I certainly understand that Santa Claus isn’t real. But if you are like me, you can think back to those times as a child when you believed in Santa and you had excitement, hope, and joy as you approached Christmas morning. But why did we have those feelings?

Those feelings came about because we believed in Santa. We believed that someone cared enough about our hopes and dreams to make them come true. It should be no different in our relationship with God!

Through believing in Jesus as Savior, we should experience joy and peace. But it doesn’t stop at joy and peace, it continues on until we have hope. Hope that this world is not all there is. Hope that one day, we will spend eternity with the one who loved us enough to give His life.

No matter what may have you down in this life, the Child of God can have hope. Not because this world is the best there is. We can have hope through our faith in Jesus Christ as Savior that one day soon, Jesus is coming and all our trials and sorrows will be over!
