Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me. — Psalm 40:13
Not long ago, I was walking through the house as my son was seated at the kitchen table. I started to walk past and he quickly jumped up. He ran over to me and said, “daddy come here hurry!” I had no idea what was going on.
As we walked across the room, he quickly pulled me to the chair by the table. He was in the middle of doing something and he was stuck. He didn’t know what to do or how to do it. He had tried to read the instructions, but it just wasn’t working.
The next words he said was, “I can’t fix it, daddy please help me.” After studying the pieces for a few minutes, I was able to figure out what had happened. I showed him what was wrong and he quickly fixed his mistake. Soon, he was on his way to completing his project once again.
There are many times in life we find ourselves in a similar situation. We find ourselves in a situation or circumstance that we cannot figure out. We are stuck and we need help. But many times, we often look to other solutions instead of the one who can help us in these times of need.
David knew where his help came from in this Psalm. He didn’t just want God to help, he wanted God to hurry. If we are all honest, there are times when we all have desired this, but have we ever been so honest that we actually asked God to hurry?
God loves us and cares for us. He never once said we shouldn’t share exactly how we feel. I think that’s one of the things that draws me so often to reading in Psalms. David told God exactly how he felt.
Today, maybe you need to take a moment to pray and just tell God exactly how you feel. Perhaps you need help and you feel like you need it fast. Talk to Him in prayer and tell Him! The best part is that He will not only listen, but He cares and loves you so much He will help you through!
