We were driving down the road, and I heard the words from the back seat, “Where are we going?” I explained to my son where we were going and that we would be there soon. He sat quietly for a few minutes, and then I heard him say, “Hurry, Daddy.” As we continued to talk, he explained that he had something he wanted to do when he got home.
As we got closer to our neighborhood, he started pointing out things that were familiar. He knew the road, he knew which way we should turn, and he knew exactly which entrance we should take. We turned into the neighborhood and he said, “Almost there.” It was a relief to him that we were almost home!
That is certainly how we should feel as Christians! We have so many things in this world that are going on around us. There are dozens of distractions. Things in this life that drag us down and cause us heartache. Yet, we know that this world is not our home. It is simply temporary.
Our focus and mind should be on what lies ahead. We know that Jesus could return at any time. As the scriptures say, only He knows the day and the hour. As we think about the things that lie ahead and how soon Jesus could return, our mindset should be “almost there.”
Whatever you are facing, you are almost there. No matter how difficult it may be. No matter how challenging it seems. The storms may be raging, and it feels as if all hope is lost. Just remember, you are almost there! Jesus could return at any moment, and all the sorrow of this life be over. Stay strong; we are almost there!
