The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? — Psalm 27:1
As I walked into the room, I was doing my best to stay quiet. My wife was still asleep, as was our son and pets. I thought I could slip out of the room into another room amid the darkness without waking them all. As I turned the corner, I knew that I had made a slight miscalculation.
In the darkness, I was unable to see that something was left on the floor. I wasn’t able to see it, but the pain that shot into my foot told me something was there. I quickly fumbled around and found some source of light that would help me navigate the situation. Thankfully, it was just something small and didn’t leave me injured.
Just as I went into that room unable to see the things around me, there are many people wandering around in darkness in this world. They take steps every day amid the darkness, never paying attention to the dangers all around them. They are used to walking in the darkness because they have never experienced the light!
Jesus declared that He was the light of the world. In Him, darkness no longer exists. As David declares in this Psalm, the LORD is the light and salvation for us all. But many have never experienced that light. They still live in the darkness.
Are you one who is still living in darkness? Have you ever accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior? If not, you are wandering around in the darkness, just one step away from eternity. God never wanted anyone to live in darkness forever. That is why He sent His Son to be the light of the world. Instead of living in darkness, accept Jesus as Savior and walk in the light!
