He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. — Psalm 18:6

Last week, I was sent a video from a friend in Western North Carolina that was of some of the terrible flooding they had experienced from the hurricane. In the small towns, water took over the streets. The water raged, sweeping away homes, cars, trees, and anything else that stood in its way. But in this video, there were several people out in the water!

As the waters raged around them, they were slowly working their way to safety. From the story, it sounds like someone had become trapped in their home that was about to be swept away. Rather than watching them, one brave person chose to act. They risked their own life to wade out into the water and help them.

After the people were brought out of the water, the camera shared some continued video of the family. They were emotional, to say the least, as they watched their house slowly taken by the water just minutes after they had escaped. But I’ll never forget the words of the woman who shared her appreciation for the person who brought them out, saying they could never repay them for what they did.

While I haven’t been caught in the flood waters of this world, I can certainly relate to having been caught in the flood waters of sin. As David writes here, God came from above and took me and drew me out. Yes, if we are saved, we can all relate to how He brought us out!

Have you ever been able to say those words, “He brought me out.” To think of what Jesus did for me on the cross, I could never repay Him for what He has done. He brought me out, and if you are saved, He did the same for you. Those are encouraging words to remember today!
