His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. — Matthew 25:21

As my friend was getting ready to leave, I watched as he worked to get every piece of hair in place. He was particular about his hair, wanting it to appear perfect in every way. He loved to make a great first impression and felt like having his hair in pristine condition was key.

He would brush his hair with the comb, slowly working it back and patting it with his hand. He occasionally would spray some hair product in it. After quite a while, he was happy with it. Every hair was in the perfect spot. Every detail was taken care of. He was ready to go out and enjoy dinner.

We were teenagers and our appearance was important. We paid attention to the details. Our clothes had to be perfect. Our shoes clean and our vehicles ready for the town. Times have certainly changed a lot of these things as I got older. Other details have become more important in life.

The point is that details are an important part of life. We all have responsibilities in life. Things that God has given us in life that we are responsible for each day. Paying attention to these small details, no matter what they are, is very important to God!

Sometimes picking up the kids from school can be frustrating. Cleaning up a mess left on the counter may drive us crazy. As we go about these tasks, we should remember that God placed them in our lives for a purpose. Little details that we should pay attention to, and remember that we are doing them for God.
