And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. — John 2:25
There are very few people who know me intimately. I have always been someone who keeps things internal. I don’t like to share my thoughts or feelings. Many times I would rather just sit at home and think to myself, than to be among other people. That isn’t to say that I don’t care about others, but I have always been hesitant to get close to many people.
Of anyone in this world, my wife and my parents know me the best. My wife knows me best because she spends the most time with me. My parents know me well becasue they were the ones that raised me. They know my personality, my behaviors, and what I was taught when I was younger.
The point is, the ones that you spend the most time with and the ones that have been around you the longest, know you the best. They know the things that make you tick. Each of them understands little details that make you who you are. I think that’s what is very interesting about what is said in this verse in John.
In talking about Jesus, John writes, “for he knew what was in man.” In other words, He (Jesus) knew the intimate details of each person around Him. He had spent time with many of them, but that’s not how He knew them. He knew them because He was God, present when all things were created!
He knows you more intimately than anyone else. He knows your thoughts, what makes you tick, and the things you struggle with. You can try to fight things on your own, not talking to others. Even if you do, He still knows!
So, rather than struggling to handle things, talk to Him about them. Let Him know your thoughts, your struggles, and your cares. Share the challenges you face, and ask Him to help guide you. Not only did He love you more than anyone else, He knows you better than anyone else. He cares and wants you to rely on Him!
Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
