Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. — Psalm 23:5

There are many stories of people who have overcome adversity in this life. I have read the story of those who have failed at business ventures. Perhaps they started several businesses before one of their businesses performed well, and they were successful. Others may have been inventing a new product, but they failed countless times before they finally achieved success.

Many others have overcome physical adversity. Perhaps a doctor told them they did not have any hope. Maybe they were told they would not walk again, live a normal life, or many other things. Yet, by the grace of God, they are living life and doing the things they were told they would never do.

Adversity is something that happens in life. It seems that life will throw anything that it can against us. Our biggest enemy, the Devil, will put anything in our path to cause us to fail and fall short. In those moments, to make it through, we need help from God to overcome that adversity. There’s no shortage of God’s goodness in the face of adversity.

In this verse, we read that a table was prepared in the presence of the enemies. If I could rephrase what David is saying, it would be, “In spite of all that is against me, you have more than I’ll ever need.” That is so true of our God!

What enemies are rising up against you in life today? What adversity are you facing? In spite of all that is against you, God has an endless supply of help available for you. It is far more than you will ever need! Trust Him and let Him guide you through.
