Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. — Luke 7:12

There have been a few instances in my life when I was in a situation that no one else could help with. Maybe it was a task that only I knew how to do. Perhaps it required things to be done a certain way, and it was something that I just needed to take care of on my own.

Other times, it might be something that only one person can do. Maybe there isn’t room for others, or perhaps it is an area they are not allowed to enter. No matter the situation, I’m thankful that others may offer to help. But sometimes, there are situations in life when no one else can help.

I think about this widow who was following the body of her dead son. But what really sticks out to me in this verse is that the Bible specifically calls out there were a lot of people with her. She was loved; they cared for her but couldn’t help her.

They couldn’t change her circumstances and situation. Her son had died. She was a widow because her husband was gone. They were there for support but couldn’t change what she was facing. That was until she had an amazing interaction with our Lord!

You may find yourself in such a situation, and perhaps it is one in which no one else can help. But I’m glad that does not apply to our Lord! No matter the situation or circumstance, He is able to change it. He is able to overcome it. Instead of struggling with it, give it to Him. When no one else can help, God can!
