Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually. — Hosea 12:6
One of my least favorite things to do is to wait. Back in our hometown, it was not uncommon to have to wait in a restaurant. For the longest time, nearly every restaurant did not take reservations, and you would find the wait at restaurants to be an hour or more. It would cause me to often change my plans of where I wanted to eat because I did not want to wait.
But I can be the same way at home, too. If I am hungry and something is going to take a while to cook to eat, I will often opt for something easier. I may not want to take an hour to make something. I’ll often find myself taking the easy way, making a quick sandwich, or eating a snack.
It is not always easy to wait for anything. Our society is the get-it-now society. We expect that anything we want, we can simply get on our phones, order it, look it up, and it would be here almost immediately. Food, clothes, or things it doesn’t matter. We usually want it right now.
The amazing reminder here in this verse is to wait on God continually. As Christians, we often will try to fix things ourselves. We will see what’s happening and look for a way to change it immediately. But the idea of the statement here is that anyone who waits on God continually, it is worth the wait.
Are you always waiting on God, or do you try to fix things yourself? When we find ourselves in times of challenges and troubles, we should also find ourselves in moments of waiting. Waiting on God’s guidance, help, and deliverance.
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
