But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. — Job 23:10
Some time ago, our family went to a theme park. My son and my wife love the rides, but generally, I’m more of a people watcher. I love to see how people interact and react to the things going on around them. But on this particular trip, I had the opportunity to watch someone who was making some type of glass art.
They were using a torch, and they were heating the glass, pulling it, bending it, shaping it, and creating what they hoped to sell in the days to come. At one point, I noticed that there was a place in the glass that did not look quite right. The artist saw it too. They quickly heated that area back up and started working with it once again.
After a few minutes, I never saw the imperfection again. The artist had worked through the imperfection. Now, all I saw was the beautiful work of the artist. As they added the last bit of color, they set the piece of work aside and started to create another piece for their shop.
There are many times that we have places in our lives that are not quite right. Sometimes we make bad decisions. Other times, things happen in our lives that are beyond our control. But none of them catch God by surprise. Instead, He gets to work refining our lives to make us what He wants us to be.
The refinement process is not always easy. Sometimes it takes some heat, some twisting, and some pulling. It’s not always comfortable. But we have to trust in the one who is doing the work. God has never made a mistake.
Maybe you see the imperfections in your life. Perhaps you are going through the refinement process, and it’s painful. But don’t forget who is holding you in His hand! God cares for you, loves you, and is going to see you through. He has a plan and a vision, which includes making you the prized possession that He wants you to be!
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
