If we were all honest, we would probably all admit that we find ourselves in a position this year that we did not imagine from last year. There are probably aspects of our current situation that we considered. For example, maybe we imagined we would be working in our current job, living in our home, or even having made a life change in the past year. But there are still some things that happened we probably never imagined.
No one sets out at the beginning of a year and plans to deal with sickness, death, or other things throughout the year. Most don’t plan to be victims of crime, have someone wrong them, or any of the other thousands of things we may be dealing with this year.
The truth is our world is filled with unknowns. We truly don’t know what the future holds, whether that be later today, tomorrow, or even later this year. It can cause a lot of people to live their lives filled with worry and fear of the unknown.
As we go into the new year, we can certainly all live our lives in worry and fear, or we can listen to the words of God. God has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He has promised to hear our prayers, protect us, and provide for us. Even still, so many will start the new year in fear of the unknown.
The new year may be filled with many different things that will come into our lives. Not a single one of these things will take God by surprise. Rather than having fear of the unknown, we should listen to the words of the Bible. God is here, He’s ready, and He’s waiting on us. We just need to trust Him with anything and everything that this year may bring.
