And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion. — Mark 2:12

There are many times in life when we do things in front of others. I will never forget the first time that I stood in front of a group of people to teach Sunday School for the first time. Or the first time that I stood up in a college class to give a presentation in the computer class that I was attending.

There were many parts of those experiences that involved fear and intimidation. On many occasions in my life, I have been willing to simply fade into the backdrop of a situation. I don’t always feel the most comfortable being the object of attention.

There are many people who have a fear of being put into situations of public speaking or being in front of others. Then, there are many others that crave that feeling and attention. But the truth is, each one of us is living a life that is being watched by others.

In this verse, we see a man who was healed by Jesus. He immediately took up his bed and went out in front of everyone. I don’t think that this man was specifically seeking attention. Yet, his story was seen by all those around him. It led to a moment of amazement and wonder at the miracle that had taken place.

Each of our lives has been touched by God in a unique way. But do we live our lives in a manner where others see what God has done for us? Not that we parade around in pride and puff out our chests. But do we give God the glory, letting others see His work?

As others see our lives, they should see the work of God. We should give Him the credit for all he does for us, allowing them to be amazed (as we should be) by all His goodness and mercy. What story does your life tell others about God?

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
