For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. — Mark 10:45

One of the biggest questions that seems to exist in society is the purpose of life. Countless books have been written about finding purpose in life. Across the world, seminar after seminar has been held about the purpose of life. There are a million self-help articles online that are designed to help you find your purpose in life.

After working in healthcare for many years, I interacted with many individuals who contemplated the same question. Some of these went as far as to consider or attempt to take their own life because they did not see life as having a purpose. I recall many of the conversations where they would say things like they did not see a point in life or continuing their life.

I can’t help but think of the words of Rev. Billy Graham. He once said, “Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil – it has no point.” So the question should never be, what is the point or purpose of life? Instead, we should be asking, “What is God’s purpose for my life?”

We can look to the example of Jesus for help with this question. The King of Kings, who gave up all of Heaven’s splendor to be a sacrifice for the sins of the world. He didn’t arrive with pomp and circumstance. Instead, He came as a minister to do something for others.

Every moment of our lives is a gift of God. Once we give our lives to Him, our lives should be dedicated in service to God. We don’t have to look very far for purpose in life. Look around you. Our world needs God. What can you do today for God?

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
