For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. — 2 Corinthians 1:20
There comes a point in many lives where someone seems to get a realization of the promises of God. Perhaps they have sung about them, read about them, or even ministered to others about them. But at some point in life, we begin to see the promises of God as real in our lives.
That was certainly the case for Russell Carter. He was a gifted athlete, served in the military, and was an upstanding, professing Christian for most of his life. But as history shares, it was not until he was 30 that the story of God’s promises became real in his life. He had a medical scare where doctors told him there was nothing more they could do for him.
Instead of giving up hope, he remembered the promises he had hearted about and read about. It seems that he came to that moment of realization, and the promises of God became real in his life. No more was he going to be just living life. His life would be fully and totally dedicated to God.
Several years prior, he had written some words, and now they became more real. One stanza of the song he wrote says, “Standing on the promises I now can see.” The hymn we have heard and sung for many years ends with the words, “I’m standing on the promises of God.”
Every promise that God has ever made has held true. We can stand on those promises with great assurance. But do we see them as real in our lives? Are we living our lives completely dedicated to God, standing on the promises He made in His word?
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
