House shopping is one of my least favorite things to do. On the few occasions that we have moved, I hate spending countless hours looking for a new house and asking countless questions. Is the area safe? Do we need to worry about the long-term value? There were a couple of times that we moved during the height of the housing market. I’ll remember another frustration that I had was the signs that said “coming soon.”
Perhaps it was the exact area that we wanted to be in. It could have been the exact style of home we wanted. But the houses weren’t ready, and the sign said “coming soon.” We would often ask a real estate agent when the homes would be ready. The answer was always, “No one knows, but it shouldn’t be long.”
While it may have been frustrating due to our situation, we understood what they were trying to say. The materials could arrive any day. The home could be finished within just a matter of days. The best we could do was to wait and be ready as soon as it was available.
All throughout the Bible, we read about Jesus’ return. Time after time, we are told Jesus will come again and that He will return quickly. The Bible even says, in the blink of an eye. While we may not know the day or the hour, Jesus is coming soon!
The most important question is that we know we are saved. That’s the most important step in being ready. But beyond that, are we living our lives ready for His return? Are we looking for Him and anticipating that His return could happen any day? If not, we should be. Because at any moment, Jesus could return to this world.
