Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. — Hebrews 11:1
Several years ago, office supply chain Staples came out with a unique marketing campaign. It involved a button that said “easy” and the catchphrase was “that was easy.” The idea was that you could simply press a button and the challenges that you were dealing with would be gone. The reality is that there are not many things in life that are that simple.
But there is one thing in life that is simple. In fact, God made it so simple that even a child can express it, even if they don’t fully understand. Yet, we often make it one of the most difficult things in life. Faith doesn’t require a college education, specialized training, or anything else. It simply takes the act of faith.
It’s faith in a God that cares and loves. Faith in an eternal home that we have never seen. We don’t have to pay for it, don’t have to work for it, we simply must believe. How much more simple could it be? But we often overcomplicate it. Because how would something truly be that easy?
But that’s exactly how God designed it. Faith is simple, with all the benefits available to all. You simply must believe. Which is the part that most struggle with. How could something so great be so easy and free? That’s the challenge of faith. Our minds want to understand it when God says just believe.
Do you find yourself struggling trying to figure it all out? Maybe you want to understand all the details, but can’t quite piece together the puzzle of faith. While our minds want to make it difficult, we should be thankful for the simplicity. If we had to understand it all, we would never realize the benefits of faith.
Instead, God kept things simple. Forgiveness from your sin and an eternal home are available to all, for simply believing. Do you believe or are you still trying to figure it out on your own? Today would be a great day to stop trying to figure it all out and simply believe. If you do believe, take a moment to thank God for how simple He made it.
Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
