Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. — Titus 2:8

One of the things in life that will get us into trouble quickly is our mouths. If you are like me, you can think back on countless people who you have interacted with. You can remember back to the dirty jokes that they told, the lies they told, and many other things that caused you to change your perspective of them.

Maybe you initially thought they were a great person, but then they said something that was extremely disappointing. Truthfully, no one is above this in life. Political leaders, social leaders, and more have had issues with things they have said. Countless Pastors, Missionaries, Evangelists, teachers, and more have all been caught up in issues regarding their words. It is a big issue.

As Paul writes here, he mentions “sound speech.” That’s pure speech, wholesome speech. It is speech that would not give anyone a reason to question us, doubt us, or think differently about us. Not because we are better than anyone else, but because the words that we say are different.

You don’t have to go far to hear speech that would not be considered sound. Turn on the television and you’ll hear the lies. Walk down the street and you will hear vile language, dirty jokes, and so much more. But we are called to be different than those around us!

As we go about our days, are we saying the words the world needs to hear? The world hears enough filth. It needs to hear of God’s mercy and grace, compassion, and encouragement. The world needs Christians that are not afraid to stand out as different, just because of how they talk. Rather than trying to fit into the world’s filth, we should set the example of sound speech.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
