Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. — Psalm 69:1

I once read the story of a man and woman who were trapped in their home as it was flooding. The storms had been pounding outside for quite some time. They had taken all they could to the highest levels of their home, but even that was not enough. The water was rising around them. In fact, they had gone as far as to prepare one last meal, believing this would be their last day alive.

As they continued to try to escape the rising water, they heard something in the distance. It was a team of rescuers. They were searching for people who may be trapped, needing to be saved. The man and woman began crying out for help. Their desperate pleas were heard and help was on the way!

After several minutes of devising a plan, the man and woman were loaded onto the vessel and were carried away to safety. They had lost their home and they had lost their other possessions. But their lives were spared. They would live to see tomorrow, their family, and their friends once again.

There are many times in our spiritual lives we may face such circumstances. We may feel as if the water is rising in our souls with no way out. Maybe we cry out to God and others, begging them to save us but help seems so far away. But it’s not the end of the story!

It might seem easiest to just give up, but don’t! God has heard your cry. He has heard your plea. He knows the water is quickly rising in the middle of your situation and help is on the way. God already has a plan and soon you will see Him intervene in your life once again!
