And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt? — Exodus 3:11

Occasionally, there are items that we purchase that need to be put together. When you open the packaging, you normally expect to find the instructions. Maybe you are able to figure out some of the steps on your own, but it sure helps when you have all the details. You can simply follow step by step to complete the task.

But there are times when the instructions are not clear. Maybe the description is vague or perhaps the photo does not clearly identify the area you need it to. It leaves you asking questions. How am I supposed to do this? How does this work? There are so many questions that unclear instructions will leave you with.

I can’t help but imagine that’s how Moses felt here. God had just finished telling him that he was going to go before Pharaoh and demand that he let God’s people go. God didn’t tell Moses how this was going to happen. God told Moses to go. That’s where the questions started.

Moses immediately said, “Who am I?” No doubt other questions went through his mind. Why would Pharaoh listen to him? How was God going to accomplish this? God didn’t give him step-by-step instructions. God simply told Moses to go. God knew the plan, but Moses had questions.

There are many times in our life God guides us in certain ways that may leave us with questions. Maybe we don’t have the detailed instructions we would like. Maybe we don’t know how things are going to work out. But God guided us to this point and told us to go. Many times, God gives us direction, long before He gives us the instructions.

But God gives us the same promise that He made to Moses. In my words, God said to Moses I will be with you. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us. We may not have the instructions and all the details, but we have God. He is not looking for us to question Him, He is looking for us to trust Him and His plan.
