He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. — Psalm 91:1

Many years ago when I was working as a paramedic, I remember many instances where we needed protection as we responded to emergencies. At various times, we would respond to the scene of a shooting or other violent crime. Sometimes, they were unable to find the shooter before we needed to get to the patient to treat them. In those moments, we would often be given protection by law enforcement.

As we were in the middle of the situation, they were there, watching over us. Because they were protecting us, I was able to focus on the patient. There was no fear of someone coming up behind me, beside me, or anywhere near me. I was in the protection of those watching over me. I am extremely thankful for their protection.

As excellent as their protection was, none compares to the protection of God! In this verse, we see that those who give their hearts to God and abide in Him, there is a place for them under His shadow. Just as a shadow will cover something entirely, that’s how the protection of God is!

Because of this protection, we don’t have to fear going through this life. No matter what this world may put in our way, we are receiving the ultimate protection. Nothing will ever catch God by surprise, or penetrate the protection He gives without Him allowing it.

What is in your life that is causing you to fear? Perhaps you are worried, maybe even losing sleep at night. It may have even consumed all of your thoughts and is dominating your life. But if you have put your faith in God, you don’t have to live this way. You don’t have to fear, because God’s protection has you covered. Give those concerns to Him and rest in the Shadow of the Almighty!

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
