It’s always better to do things God’s way

It's always better to do things God's way
Share with others

And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. — 1 Samuel 17:40

I have heard countless stories throughout my life of people who shared warnings of doing things God’s way. Perhaps God called them for a specific purpose, but they decided to run the other way. Even scripture shares stories of people like Jonah who did this when God called him to go to Ninevah.

Time and again we learn that it is always better to do things God’s way. It’s easier to submit to God’s way the first time. There’s just one problem. Many times, we fail to do things God’s way because we think it may look foolish or ridiculous in the eyes of others.

I am certain that’s how the people around David looked at him when he was about to face Goliath. Saul offered armor, but David refused it. Instead, he took his shepherd’s staff, then selected a few smooth stones out of the brook for his sling. He was going to face the biggest giant they had known with a staff, sling, and some rocks.

While he may have looked foolish in the eyes of those around him (even his own family), he had the one thing he needed on his side. He had God! Rather than making excuses or finding reasons to do things a different way, he chose to do things God’s way the first time.

Has God told you to do something, but you’ve been looking for excuses? Or maybe you already used some excuses, but God is telling you that now is the time to do what He told you to do. It’s always better to do things God’s way. Don’t put it off and delay. Do what God has told you to do. Or, leave behind the excuses, and trust God. His way is always best.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
