And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. — Revelation 20:12

On one of my many trips to Washington, DC, I remember visiting the Library of Congress. Known for being the largest library in the world, I was fascinated at the amount of literature that was held by the library in its various forms. They had print records and digital records of all types.

In fact, they went as far as having specific reading rooms for various types of literature. If you want to look through newspaper records, that was in one location. Research was conducted in another location. History from various places around the world was in a wide variety of rooms.

The amount of records that were kept by the Library of Congress was fascinating to hear about and see. The tour guide continued to share how expansive those records were and how many years they covered. While all of this is fascinating, it is not the best record system ever known.

In Revelation, John writes about God’s record system. He writes about the two key record books God maintains. One is the book of life and the other is the book of all of our deeds. Anyone who has ever lived will find their name in the book of deeds. Only those who have accepted Jesus Christ will find their name in the book of life.

Not one single aspect of your life is missed from God’s record books. So what do those records say about you? I once heard it said, if everything in your life was flashed on the wall for all to see, what would they see? While we may hide a lot from others, we cannot hide anything from God’s eyes.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
