The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. — Psalm 115:12

One of my favorite things when I was a child, was to sit around and hear people talk about how things were back in their youth. I remember my dad describing times to me as he grew up in a small town in North Carolina. My mom would share times from her childhood on many occasions as well. I used to always be fascinated as they described how they lived without many things, like computers.

It was always interesting to hear my grandfather talk about his time playing baseball. He would share stories about his past growing up in the same small town my dad was from. He would often share so many details that I only wish I could remember now that I am older.

But I will never forget the many occasions when they shared stories about how God had done things for them in the past. I remember my dad sharing times as a young preacher and how he relied on God to help him. I remember many others sharing similar stories from their past.

Most scholars believe this Psalm was written after the return from the captivity of Babylon. It would only be fitting, seeing as how the psalmist writes that God had blessed them in the past, and he was convinced he would continue to bless them in the future.

There’s a great lesson of encouragement in this for Christians. When you feel down and discouraged, remember the God of the past. Throughout time, God has blessed and helped His children. Because of this, we can confidently say, He can do it again! There is no limitation to God’s ability. There is only a limitation to the amount of faith that we will put in Him.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
