And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. — John 14:3

There is just something special about home. No doubt you know the feeling that I’m describing. Perhaps you have been on a trip, even if it was the most amazing trip, but as you travel down the road and your home comes into view, there is just something comforting about it.

It’s our place of knowing where we belong. We do not have to worry about the perceptions of the world around us, we can just be ourselves. We can relax in our homes, finding rest and rejuvenation from work, school, or anything else that we face in life.

The problem is that it is all temporary. The rest that we find at our homes is short-lived. Things in life constantly try to pull us from our homes. Those same jobs, schools, and other pressures that we seek relief from, they will eventually find their way to call us once again out of our homes.

Thankfully, for the Christian, this world is not our final home. While we may refer to our homes here as “home,” our home is really Heaven. Jesus promised that He was going to that place to make things ready for us. He said that He was preparing our place in that home, where we can rest from all the pressures and trials of this world.

A lot of people have promised me a lot of things in life, but no one has ever made a promise like this one. A future home, a place of permanent rest and relief from all the cares and troubles of this world. Jesus is coming soon, are we ready?
