Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. — Colossians 4:2

It is human nature to be quick to complain. It is certainly challenging to exist in this world. The world is full of sin, challenges, heartache, trials, storms, or any other description that you would like to use. At any given moment, we are subject to moving from a good day to a bad one. From being joyous to being anxious over circumstances that are beyond our control.

As I sit and reflect, I can think of many people who have struggled over the past year. Many have lost loved ones. Others have started battles with cancer. A large number have faced sickness and other sorrows in life. The challenges continue to come into our lives and it seems they become greater year by year.

Even amid all those challenges and circumstances, if we are all honest, we can still say that God has been good. Through all the circumstances and trials of life, He has never once failed us. He has given us grace and mercy and walked with us through some of the darkest moments of our lives. For all these reasons, our hearts should be filled with thanks.

Paul writes to the church to keep praying but reminds them they should be vigilant in prayer with thanksgiving. A lot of people will spend Thanksgiving focused on the meals, sports games, or shopping deals that they may find. As Christians, our hearts should be filled with prayers of thanksgiving to God for His goodness.

While the journey may not have been easy, God has been good. Today, spend time in prayer, thanking Him for all His goodness, mercy, and grace. None of us deserved the goodness of God that we received, but He loves us, cares for us, and has blessed us all. He is worthy of our praise and thanksgiving, not just today but every day!
