And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.  — Luke 7:13

There are a lot of people that we come in contact with in this world from day to day. We come into contact with people at our jobs, at stores, in our neighborhoods, or even passing them on the street as we drive by. Some of those people we may know, but many of them we do not know.

One thing that I have learned is that as I come in contact with many of those people, a lot of them may not care about what is going on in my life. They may not care to hear my struggles, understand my heartache, or hear me complain about circumstances. When someone does listen and does hear, they are showing compassion to the situation that I am in.

In this verse in Luke, we see that Jesus had compassion on a woman. She was walking out with her only son who had died and she was a widow Scripture tells us. While there were a lot of people around, I am sure that this woman felt alone.

I am sure she felt that no one there knew her situation. I am sure she felt that no one cared to listen or cared to understand how she felt. She was probably not planning on meeting Jesus on the way out of the city either. We find that His compassion turned into a transformative experience. He raised her son from the dead and changed her life forever.

In all the situations we face in life, there is one person who cares and understands exactly how we feel. God knows our heartache, our troubles, our sorrows, our difficulties, our challenges, and anything else you want to list. While it may seem like we are all alone or that no one cares, He cares and His compassion can transform our circumstance beyond our wildest imagination.
