O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. — Psalm 90:14

Every morning, it is a gateway into the new day. No matter how bad the situation may have been the day before, a new day brings about new opportunities and a chance for change. It is important that a day gets off to the right start.

No doubt that’s where the old adage “getting off on the right foot” came from. It seems that if a day does not start out right, it can set the entire day off course and cause us to struggle to regain our focus and proper mindset.

With the start of the day being so important, we should obviously focus on starting the day off right. The psalmist brings things to the forefront in this verse with the statement “satisfy us early with thy mercy.” The concept is to find comfort in God’s mercy and goodness early in the morning, as soon as the day begins.

It is a challenge for us that we begin our day focusing on God, His word, and His goodness and mercy. We should begin the day in prayer, allowing our hearts to be in tune with God from the very start. We need His help and guidance throughout the day, so why not start at the very beginning of the day?

Starting our day out in tune with God helps us align our outlook for the day. It is the best way to get the day started in the right direction and it helps us navigate all the challenges life can bring.
