Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. — Psalm 106:1
As we approach the end of the year, we often spend time reflecting on things from the previous year and looking into anticipation of the new year. As we reflect, we often look at things that happened or things that we would like to do differently.
Many people will look back this year at loved ones that were lost. We think about the many tragedies that the year brought and the sadness that may have been experienced.
Others will think about the excitement that 2021 brought them. Many people experienced the birth of a child, marriage, graduation, new careers, or many other exciting things.
No doubt we can all look back and 2021 and realize that we most likely had good and bad experiences. We went through high spots and low spots. Even through all of those things, we can end the year on a note of thanks.
Because through everything, God was good to us. Through the joyous occasions and through the sad times, God was with us, He provided for us, He comforted us, He blessed us, and so much more.
No matter how you choose to close out the year, I encourage you to consider what the psalmist says here. Perhaps we end the year by praising the Lord and giving thanks to Him for how good He was to us in 2021.
