If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? – Psalm 11:3
Do you ever look at what is going on in our world today and wonder who is in charge? All we hear from the news media and politicians seems to be only the bad and sad news. There is frustration in the White House, in the Capitol, in our states and in our communities. It seems like everything is off-kilter these days.
But what gives me confidence is realizing that none on this earth are truly the ones in control of the world. In Psalm 11, the psalmist David asked, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” We are watching foundation after foundation crumbling in our society and world.
The foundation of the family has been under attack for generations. The foundation of our government seems so shaky now. Even the very foundation our world has been shaken by a pandemic. If the foundations be destroyed, what can we do? David went on to say, “The LORD is in his holy temple: the LORD’s throne is in heaven.” He is the one in charge. When all seems shaken, whether it is in our world, our nation or our individual lives, keep in mind that the Lord has never relinquished His control over anything. He is still on the throne and in control over all things and that will never change.
