When Everything Feels Like Too Much
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. — 1 Peter 5:7
Life can be overwhelming. Many things can cause us to feel overwhelmed. Family challenges become intense. School pressures become heavy. Perhaps the bills are mounting and the money does not seem to be coming nearly fast enough. Responsibilities stack up. Expectations grow. And before long, it feels like you are carrying more than you were meant to carry.
Sometimes the weight is external, circumstances outside of your control.
Other times, the weight is internal, anxiety, fear, or quiet discouragement that no one else can see.
Scripture gives us a simple but powerful invitation to give it all to God.
Notice what the verse does not say.
It does not say, “Fix everything first.”
It does not say, “Be stronger.”
It does not say, “Handle it on your own.”
It says cast.
To cast something means to release it. To throw it off. To stop gripping it so tightly.
When we feel overwhelmed, our instinct is often to clench tighter, to think harder, work longer, carry more. But God invites us to loosen our grip. Not because the problems are small. But because His care is greater.
You may not be able to solve everything today.
You may not be able to control the outcome.
But you can take one small step right now: surrender the weight you’re carrying to the One who truly sees you.
God is not distant from your stress.
He is not frustrated by your exhaustion.
He is not surprised by your limits.
He cares.
Even in this moment.
Take a slow breath.
Whisper a simple prayer: “Lord, this is heavy. I give it to You.”
And trust that He is strong enough to hold what feels too heavy for you.
You are not weak because you feel overwhelmed.
You are human.
And you are not alone.
