And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. — Luke 2:7
As we returned home from a trip to the store, we noticed our neighbors cleaning out their garage. It isn’t uncommon to see people cleaning things out this time of the year. Many of us have been well blessed, and have far more things that we truly need.
Many times, we clean things out and simply replace what we cleaned out with more stuff. We do the exact same thing in our lives as well. We have things that fill the time and places in our lives, and we often clean them out. Then, we replace them with other things that consume our time.
As I continue to reflect as we approach Christmas, I’m reminded of a time when there was no room for the Savior. He was laid in the manger and wrapped in swaddling clothes. We often talk about the fact that there was no room for Him in the inn, but many of us never make room for Him in our lives!
We spend day after day consumed by the things of this world. It can be so easy this time of year to become consumed with things, rather than the moment of the season. The most important thing that we can do in our lives is to make room for the Savior!
Do you have room for the Savior in your heart? Is He your Savior? Do you make time to spend with Him? Do you talk to Him? Or do you allow the things of this world to take priority. Today, make room for the Savior. If you have never accepted Him, give Him your heart. If you have accepted Him, give Him room in your life to take control.
