For His Glory

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. — 1 Corinthians 10:31

Throughout the years, I have learned that many people will share different reasons for why they do what they do. For example, when a child is asked why they didn’t listen to a parent, a lot of different excuses will be given. In fact, you can probably think back to a time when you gave your parents excuses for your actions, just as I can.

Employees will often share a variety of excuses for why they took specific actions. When I have worked with my teams throughout the years, I often try to understand the reasoning behind the decision. Many times, the intention is good but the action resulted in something that was less than desired.

But this verse is not sharing about the excuses we might give, but rather the reason we do everything that we do. Why do we get up in the morning? Why do we go to work each day? Why do we interact with those around us? What is the reason why you do what you do?

In each instance, the answer should be so that we can live our lives for the glory of God. But often we get our mindset on other things. We become focused on the need for money to pay bills and buy things. We focus on our needs for social interaction, the needs of our family. Not that those are bad things, but they are standing in front of God and our true purpose in life.

In your life, what is your reason why? Or perhaps the better question is what is in God’s place as the reason why you do everything that you do? Everything in our lives should revolve around Him. It should be for His glory above all else.
