I am helped

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. — Psalm 28:7

There is something special about winning. I remember playing sports when I was younger, and I was always excited when I would win. As you would go into the game, you had an expectation that you would give your best, and the hope that you come out a winner.

But life is not always a winning situation. There are moments when it seems like all you do is lose. It is as if everything is against you, fighting you, and beating you down. Do you ever feel that way?

It is in those moments that I love verses like this one in Psalm 28. It reminds us of several key things. It starts reminding us of the amazing Lord that we serve. It continues that He is our strength and our protection in this world.

It reminds us that our heart must put our trust in Him. But more than all that, it says “I am helped.” It is no mistake that this was an active statement. God’s help is not a one time situation, but He helps us time and again.

No matter what you may be facing in this life, remember the one who is by your side. Our Lord is our strength and shield. Put your faith in Him and trust in the help only He can provide.
