I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. — Philippians 4:13
I often laugh at the times my son asks me for help. He loves Lego toys, and often will ask for help as he is putting them together. At times, he is attempting to play a game or create something. He will ask for help when he can’t figure something out.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining. It can be frustrating at times when you have other things going on. In the end, I realize that he depends on my wife and I to help him. He trusts us and knows that we will help him if he asks.
A lot of people look at Philippians 4:13 from the perspective of overcoming obstacles or weakness. But I think we should consider it from this perspective of dependence. That in our lives, we should be completely and totally dependent upon God.
As I approach my day, I can face all things with God by my side. When the storm approaches, I can face it with God by my side. When the difficulty arises and I simply cannot see a way through, I can make it through with God by my side.
Many people will depend on others throughout life, trying to leave God out. Instead, He should be the one we depend on! He should be the one we run to at any moment asking for help with full trust and confidence that no matter what else is going on, He loves us enough to help us through.
