Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. — James 4:14-15
Recently, I was able to speak with someone who was worried about “tomorrow.” There was some type of event that happened and this person was concerned. They were worried about how they would make it, what might happen, and how their family would survive if things went bad.
As we continued to talk, I was sharing with them that there was few things we knew about tomorrow. Sure, we may make plans for tomorrow, but we don’t know what will come to pass. I was reminded of this verse in James where scripture teaches us that we truly don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow or even with our lives overall.
As we continued to talk, it became clear that this person had given no thought about their worries in light of God. They didn’t consider that God knew what was going to happen in their tomorrow. They were worried about tomorrow when they weren’t even there.
But God is already in our tomorrows. He knows every tomorrow that we will ever face. He knows what they hold, good or bad. God knows exactly what we will need to survive those tomorrows, and even when it will be our last tomorrow.
Maybe you are worried about tomorrow, but don’t! God is already there. He is already there working on things, preparing things for your arrival. Best of all, when you get there, He will still be in control of everything. We have no reason to worry about tomorrow with God in control. We aren’t there yet, but He’s already there!
