But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. — Ephesians 4:7
There are many times in life when we may receive a gift. As young children, we may have received gifts around holidays or birthdays. There was always excitement around receiving gifts when we were younger. But as we get older, that excitement may change, and the gifts may change. It isn’t always the newest toy or gadget when we get older.
In fact, many times, the gifts that we receive as we get older are not anything we possess at all. It may not be a worldly possession, but perhaps it is a deed that is done for us. Some of the best gifts maybe someone who mows a lawn, helps with a project, or something similar.
But in this verse, we find that each Christian has been given grace. I doubt that any of us would argue that we have received grace from God. We can all look through our lives, and no doubt see the grace of God at work in various moments and situations. But I’m fascinated by the words “the measure.”
The idea here is that we have an amount of grace that has been given through Jesus Christ. In other words, because we have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, grace has been given to us to help us live a life for God. We are benefiting from the grace of God, but are we putting it to good use?
With the grace that has been bestowed on us, God wants us all to live a life for Him. He wants us to use our lives in a way that will point others to Him. Best of all, we have the gift of grace to help us through. It is up to us to put it to good use!
Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
