For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. — Hebrews 10:36
The chaos of the situation was weighing on him. As he sat down, all those around his office table were sharing bad story after bad story. The production lines were going haywire. Employees were threatening to quit. Nothing seemed to be going right for John at that moment.
It wasn’t going well at home either. He and his wife were having arguments. What was once a happy home was now filled with anger, yelling, and constant resentment. He found himself distanced from his children. His closest friends were of no comfort. It seemed that no matter where he turned, the walls were closing in on him. That’s when he made the big mistake.
He started making hasty decisions. Instead of taking his time to work through the challenges, John decided to respond quickly. He responded emotionally, without much thought for how his decision affected others around him. It wasn’t until John lost almost everything that he had that he realized that had he taken his time and shown patience, he would have seen the work God was doing in his life.
This may not be our individual story, but chances are we can all relate to John’s story. At times it can feel like the walls of life are closing in on us. But rather than responding hastily, we find ourselves right where this verse is. We have need of patience!
In these moments of life, we can find comfort in God. He has peace that only He can provide in the middle of the storms that rage. But it requires us to be patient, trust Him, and wait for Him to work. When you find yourself in the storm, don’t act hastily. Be patient and wait on God!
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
