Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat! — Job 23:3
There have been a few times in my life when I was looking for someone. I remember many years ago volunteering with the local rescue squad and we would go out searching for a child or an older adult who had become lost. We would walk around, looking for any signs of that person as we wanted to bring them back to the safety of their home.
Other times, I was searching for someone that I needed to find personally. Perhaps it was when I was a child, searching for my mom or dad in a store. Even as an adult, I find myself still searching for my wife in a store on many occasions. At times, I would stop by someone’s home to see if they were there.
It is never an easy feeling when you need to find someone but you can’t. You want to see them and talk to them, but you have no idea where they are. It seems that everywhere you look, they are not there. That is certainly how Job felt here. He said that he wished he knew where to find God!
There are times in our Christian lives that we may feel this way. We may feel as though we cannot find God. It may feel as though if we set out to look for God, we wouldn’t know where to start. It can be discouraging and disheartening.
But God doesn’t necessarily try to hide. While we may feel as though He is not near, He is! He has never once lost one of His children. God knows exactly where they are and what they are facing each day.
Perhaps you feel as though you cannot find God today. You may be unable to feel Him near, but He is there! Rather than being downhearted, call on Him in prayer. He will hear you, and best of all, He is faithful to answer.
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
